Mary Louise (“Lou”) Wilborn, 75 years young, a resident of D’Iberville, Mississippi, departed this earthly life for her heavenly home on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Mary was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, July 4, 1949, the daughter of Maxwell and Mary Prince. Mary completed Rosa A. Temple High School in Vicksburg and later attended Mississippi Valley State University. After receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Science, she graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Master's of Science in Education.
Mary was married to John Lee Wilborn on April 11, 1972, for a total of eighteen years. Mary spent her professional career, which spanned forty-three years, working as an educator in parochial and state educational systems.
Mary received the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior at an early age. She lived a life of gratitude and servitude for all. Her giftedness as a teacher and communicator extended into a fervent work in the ministry. She spent numerous summers administrating Vacation Bible School, supervising and cooking for the kitchen ministry, and encouraging the sick and elderly who were confined to hospice care. Mary’s zeal was strengthened further after she acknowledged the Lord’s calling of a more intimate relationship. She answered the call by enrolling and completing Lift Bible College in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
Mary was preceded in death by John Lee Wilborn; five brothers Maxwell Prince Jr., Charles Prince, William Prince, Richard Prince, and Alfred Prince; and one grandchild Millicent Dorothea Wilborn.
Mary is survived by two sisters Theresa Rogers of Cleveland, Ohio and Beaulah Dickey of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; two sisters in law Anne Prince of Cleveland, Ohio and Adeline Prince of Jackson, Mississippi; four children Derrick Wilborn of Los Angeles, California, Rosa Hall of Long Beach, Mississippi, Khalilah Ramsey of Gulfport, Mississippi and Tomorah Wilborn of San Francisco, California; thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mary Louise Wilborn will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 1:00pm at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will start at 12:00 pm.
