Mary Jo Winnie
March 15, 1957-Spetember 19, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Jo Winnie on September 19, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on March 15, 1957, in Wausau, WI. Mary Jo was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, partner and friend.
She is survived by her parents, James (Karen) Faehling of Reno, NV and JoAnn (Frank) Plano of Wausau, WI; her brothers, James (Joan) Faehling of Palatine, IL, and Michael (Becky) Faehling of Kempster, WI; as well as her three cherished sons, Patrick (Christina) Winnie of Weston, WI, Matthew (Sarah) Winnie of Rib Lake, WI, and Nicholas (Kaycee) Winnie of Woodbury, MN. Mary Jo was the proud grandmother of 12, including Emily, Madeline, Emma, Josefa, Michael, Henry, Mary Ellen, Phillip, Peter, Noah, Liam and Stella. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Mary Jo is also survived by her special friend and partner, Gary Connaher, and her beloved dog, Sprout, who brought her companionship and joy in her later years.
She is preceded in death by her Grandparents, Carl and Josephine Olson and Frank and Rose Plano, Auntie Sue Flatter, and Patrick D. Winnie.
Mary Jo graduated from Wausau East Highschool in 1975 and spent much of her life dedicated to caring for others, both as a CNA and as a homemaker. Her nurturing spirit and devotion to her family were evident in everything she did.
Known for her big heart, friendly demeanor, and deep love for her family, Mary Jo was always there for her sons, cheering them on at Cub Scouts, baseball and wrestling events. The holidays were a special time for Mary Jo. She delighted in decorating her home with exuberant cheer and spending quality time with loved ones.
Her kindness, generosity, and infectious spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Mary Jo's legacy of love, joy, and selflessness will continue to live on in her family and friends, as well as in the countless memories she created over the years.
A celebration of Mary Jo's life will be held at Saint Agnes on October 6th. Visitation will be at 10am with Funeral Mass to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to North Central Health Care Memory Units, where she enjoyed being a CNA.
Mid-Wisconsin Cremation Society is currently assisting the family. Online condolences can be made at MWCS.WS.

To the family of Mary Jo; I remember all the chats we had about our kids growing up. Also. When her and I chaired the St. Agnes Christmas bake shop. I will miss her and her smiles. Rest in peace Mary Jo!

Gary,
We are so sorry for your loss.
We'll miss MJ and our chats
in the summer when she was outside
taking care of the yard - and all the
decorations for every holiday.
That was her pride and
joy.
Rest in Peace MJ
