"For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill and a time to heal; a time to break down and a time to build up; a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance." Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
In the quiet, shore town haven of Manchester Township, New Jersey, where she spent 58 golden years, Mary Frances Wright, affectionately known as Jackie Wright, was a beacon of resilience, support, and thoughtful action to those who knew her. Born on the 12th of May, 1942, in Valdosta, Georgia, Mary was a woman of extraordinary strength and talent. As the beloved matriarch of her family, she cultivated an environment of humor and a spirit of perseverance that was unmatched. Jackie's long-term relationship of 22 years, with her teenage sweetheart, gave her 7 proud children, 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Her devotion and willingness to support, sacrifice, and embrace all of her children was displayed in every warm meal she made and every stitch she sewed; embodying the words of Maya Angelou, "I sustain myself with the love of family."
Jackie's life was a testament to her resilient nature. She successfully endured many challenges throughout her life. From her early childhood years working on her family's farm, to maintaining her own home and raising her children on the Jersey Shore, Jackie faced the world with a determination that was nothing short of inspirational. She retired from the Brockway Glass Company in the 1990's, where she worked as an inspector. However, being the hard working, independent role model she was, Jackie continued to work after retirement by beginning a second career as a home health aide in the healthcare industry. She extended her supportive nature to those under her care, treating them with the same compassion she showed her own family, including her mother, Frances Wade, whom she lovingly cared for in her home until she transitioned in 2017. Jackie had the ability to nurture and care for those around her in a way that was profoundly unique and impactful and will be greatly missed.
In her leisure, Jackie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was a keen gardener with an impressive green thumb that could nurture life into any soil, just as she did in the hearts of her loved ones and clients. Her love for word search puzzles hinted at her thoughtful nature, her mind always active, always seeking. She was a woman of many layers, each one more complex, humorous and particular than the last. As we remember Mary Frances Wright, let us take to heart the words of A.A. Milne, "How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye hard."
Jackie passed away on the 9th of October 2025 and is survived by her children Juvonnie Kinchen-Schneider (Paul), Jonnie Kinchen (Gina), Juquel Kinchen, Jumel Kinchen, Jucoby Kinchen (Erin), and Joryell Kinchen-Miller (Valdemar). She is also survived by her brothers Dwight Mohammed and Jimmy Wade.
She was preceded in death by her mother Frances Wade, her brother Alonzo Wade, son Juvandy Kinchen, and grandson Arjun Kinchen.
In celebration of Jackie's life, we invite you to share your memories and photos on her memorial page. As we remember her, let us honor her legacy by living as she did – resilient, supportive, and thoughtful.
