Xzavier Giovanni Gregory, affectionately known as X or Zay to those who loved him most, was born on September 20, 2009, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A courageous and compassionate soul, Xzavier was a beacon of light and laughter, radiating positivity and joy to everyone he met. A loyal friend and a funny character, his infectious laughter and delightful spirit will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Despite his young age, Xzavier had an array of interests and hobbies that showcased his colorful personality. As a student at Northeast High School, he demonstrated his love for sports, particularly football, boxing, and basketball. Yet, it was not just the rough and tumble of sports that captivated him. Xzavier's compassionate nature was reflected in his passion for cooking, especially his love for spicy food. The hotter the spice, the better, he would often say, with a twinkle in his eye that matched his fiery spirit. His loyalty and love extended beyond his interests, as he was a devoted family member and a treasured friend. He loved spending time with his family, making them laugh, and filling their lives with the warmth of his love.
Xzavier was a beloved son of Cesar Gregory and Angelica Javier. He was the cherished brother of Mia Gregory and Kennedy Scanlon. He was also a beloved grandson, dearly loved by Sonia Ortiz, Hector Javier, Zabrina Aponte, Angel Gregory. Xzavier held a special place in his heart for his aunts Gabrielle Velazquez Jennifer Javier, Alexis Mercado, uncles Odalis Bono, Iann Aponte, Gianne Aponte, stepfather Brian Scanlon and stepsister Paris Scanlon. He will also be sadly missed by his cousins other relatives and dear friends. A truly unique and special individual, Xzavier's life, although tragically cut short, was filled with love, laughter, and the joy he brought to others.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet his family on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at The Block Church, 9768 Verree Road, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19115. A Home Going Service will follow at 11:00 am at the Block Church. Xzavier will be laid to rest in Magnolia Cemetery, 4500 Levick Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19135.
