Mary Goad Wyrick

Mary Goad Wyrick, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 25th, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born on October 18th, 1933, to the late Dennie E. and Annie Mae Grubbs Goad.

Mary will be remembered for her love of simplicity in life. She loved hummingbirds, but above all else, she loved her family. Mary retired from Roanoke County School Systems after 27 years of service in the summer of 1998.

Mary is survived by son, Alan Wyrick (Sandy); daughter, Debra Brown (Charles); grandchildren, Austin Brown (Victoria) and Bailee Lillie (Bryan); surviving siblings, Doris Walker, Joyce Ann Goldston, Arthur Goad and Steve Goad; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Sheffey W. Wyrick; son, Jeffrey Wyrick; as well as multiple brothers and sisters.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Friendship Salem Terrace for the excellent care and love they provided Mary with over the last few years. The family would like to also express their gratitude to Good Samaritans Hospice Care and their Vigil Volunteers for their compassionate care.

The graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on January 8th, 2026, at Mount Union Cemetery, located at the corner of Catawba Road (Rt 779) and Blacksburg Road (Rt 630) in Troutville, Virginia.
