Mary Cal Yates Johnson, a cherished and loving mother and Nana, passed away on January 19, 2025, atthe age of 72. Born on September 2, 1952, in Grapevine, Texas, she became an integral part of her community and touched the hearts of many.
Mary's life was dedicated to her family and home, embodying the essence of a devoted homemaker. Shefound joy in the simple pleasures of life, often reminiscing about fond moments cruising through the main street of Grapevine and spending delightful afternoons at Sonic with her dear friend Janis. A kind-hearted soul, Mary was known for her loving nature, her humor, and her knack for storytelling that brought joy to those around her.
As a proud breast cancer survivor, Mary exemplified resilience and care, not only for herself but also as a dedicated caretaker for her husband. Her strength and spirit served as an inspiration to all who knew her.
Mary was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Grapevine, where she found solace and community. Her faith guided her throughout her life, and her favorite scripture, "The Lord's Prayer," reflected her deep devotion to her beliefs.
She is survived by her Son’s Gregory and wife Brenda, Step Sons Ryan, Ian and daughter in law Sarah, 4 grandchildren Ella, Rayleigh, Bennett and Levi. Son Eric and wife Kelli, daughters Riley, Ava, Marley, Sydney and husband Cameron Sorenson. who carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.
Preceded in death by her parents Earl Jr and wife Elaine Bays Yates, brother Billy and sister Susan Yates, husband A.C. Johnson Jr.
A visitation will be held on January 22, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lucas Funeral Home inGrapevine, Texas. The funeral service will take place on January 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by burial at Grapevine Historic Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
Mary Cal Yates Johnson will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends, remembered for her warmth, laughter, and the countless joyous moments she shared with loved ones. She leaves behind a cherished legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift those who had the privilege of knowing her.
