Mary Yoder Obituary

Mary Susan Yoder, a loving and caring soul with a great heart, passed away peacefully on September 10th, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia at the age of 78. Born on August 3rd, 1947, in Grants Pass, Oregon, she was a woman who believed in God and held a deep faith, often finding solace in prayer despite not belonging to a local church. Her gentle spirit and kindness touched all who knew her.

Mary spent many years working diligently as a receiving clerk at Home Depot, where her dedication and strong work ethic were admired by colleagues and friends alike. Outside of work, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life, spending her time solving puzzles, tending to her garden, and immersing herself in the world of books. Her love for the country and bluegrass music provided a comforting soundtrack to her days.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Yoder; her cherished son, Eric Yoder; and her dear brother, Gerry. Her memory will be forever treasured by her surviving family: her grandson, William Clark Yoder; her granddaughter, Jasmine Whitehead; her daughter-in-law, Michele Yoder; and her siblings, Bill and Lee. They, along with numerous friends, will miss her warm presence and open heart.

At this time no formal services are scheduled to take place. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Altmeyer Funeral Home and Cremations, Southside Chapel, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462.

Mary Susan Yoder will be remembered as a good person who lived her life with grace and generosity, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.
