Mary Zacherl Obituary

Mary (Dougherty) Zacherl, 81, of Saxonburg, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024.
She was born on Jan. 21, 1943, in Pittsburgh, to the late Charles and Olive Dougherty. She was the beloved wife of Leroy F. Zacherl for 60 years.
Mary was the loving mother of Kathy Zacherl, Roy Zacherl (Dina), Anna Griffith (Todd), the late Daniel Zacherl, Jeff Zacherl (Ita) and Jean Raible (Dan). She was the cherished grandmother of Dominic, Jessica, Anthony, Leroy, Shannon, Isaiah, Connor, Myah, Samuel, Evelyn, Lillian, Emma and Declan; and a proud great-grandmother to Brielle, Garrett, Nico and Edon. She is also remembered as a dear sister to the late Margaret Clark (late Donald), Elizabeth Spohn (late Mike), Lois Duncan (late Ed), and Richard Dougherty (Jan); and an aunt to many beloved nieces and nephews.
Alongside her husband, Mary co-owned and operated Zacherl's Watering Hole in Bakerstown, Pa. She also served her community through various roles, including recess and lunch aide at Clinton Elementary School, Clinton Township secretary and was elected as township supervisor in Clinton Township, Butler County.
Mary played a key role in the development of the Victory Road Business Park and the establishment of Spring Valley Park, providing a lasting space for families to enjoy. Her passion for leadership was also evident through her involvement in the Pennsylvania Rural-Urban Leadership Program (RULE) and as a dedicated member and officer of the Earlybirds Toastmasters Club in Butler. Some of her proudest moments came as a family support volunteer for the 630th Army Reserve Unit, where she helped to lead installation of the Desert Storm monument on Main Street in Butler.
Mary will be fondly remembered for her unwavering dedication to her community and the deep love she had for her family and friends.
