Mary Ann Zellmer

Mary Ann Zellmer, 88, passed away on December 17, 2025 surrounded by her family. Mary Ann Rath was born in 1937 in Atlantic Iowa to John Rath (1891-1968)and Mary Katherine Sellhorst Rath (1893-1978). Mary graduated from Atlantic High School in 1955. Mary was married to Clair Duane Zellmer in Torrance, California in 1957. They had three children. Mary spent most of her married life as a devoted housewife tending to her family. Mary loved popular music and fashion/clothes and worked part time at Bullocks department store in Torrance in the 1960's and May Company from 1977 and beyond through her retirement in the early 2000's. Mary was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Huntington Beach, California from 1969.

Mary is survived by her children Lori and Steve Miller of Irvine,California, Doug and Renee Zellmer of Temecula, California, Brad Zellmer of Foothill Ranch, California; her six grandchildren, Justin Zellmer, Matthew and Jasmine Zellmer, John and Jessica Miller, Tracy and James Aguirre, James Miller, Scott Miller; and three great-grandsons, Cody Miller, Luke Miller and Liam Zellmer, nephew Jeff Sperry and niece Cheryl Thielen Potvin.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of over 64 years, Clair Duane, her parents, John Rath and Mary Sellhorst Rath, her sisters, Delores Sperry, Bette Thielen, Dorothy Stangel and half-sisters Rita Lyon and Mildred Lorenz.

The funeral service will take place at Good Shepard Catholic Cemetery on Monday,December 29, 2025 at 11:00 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Huntington Beach, California.
