MaryAnn Cluse

MaryAnn Cluse, 68, of Zanesville, Ohio passed away at home on Thursday, October 12, 2023. During the last years of her life, she fought a courageous battle with Multiple System Atrophy. MaryAnn was born on April 29, 1955, in Lancaster, Ohio to Lewis and Patricia Cluse. She is a graduate of Lancaster High School. After a short time working in accounting, she found her true passion in working with children having special needs. She went on to earn her master's degree in early childhood special education from Ohio University and certification in educational leadership from the University of Dayton. She retired from her position as the Director of Education Services at Muskingham County Board of Developmental Disabilities in 2020.
MaryAnn will be remembered as a Champion for Children. She provided services and supports to families throughout Hocking, Fairfield, and Muskingum County for 30 years. Primarily, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
MaryAnn is survived by her beloved of 13 years, Larry Wheeler, son Matthew Sprang (Heather), grandchildren Matthew and Olivia; father, Lewis Cluse; siblings, Mike Cluse (Sheila) and Terry Cluse-Tolar; niece and nephews, Jamie Evans (Steve), Michael Cluse, and Nathan and Lucas Tolar; and great nieces and nephews, Alyssa, Drew, Taylor and Dylan Evans, and Jackson and Hudson Cluse.
She was preceded in death by her mother Patricia Cluse and brother-in-law James Tolar.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM and the funeral service on Friday at 11:00 AM, both at Halteman Fett & Dyer Funeral Home, 436 N. Broad St., Lancaster, Ohio. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery in Lancaster.
