Marybeth Hawk, 90, of Roseville, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 19, 1935 in Sandwich, IL, the daughter of David and Frances (Harper) Buland. Marybeth was raised and educated in Rollo, IL and graduated from Rollo High School in 1953. She then continued her education at Monmouth College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in primary education.
Marybeth married Elmer L. Hawk on October 5, 1963 in Earlville, IL; he preceded her in death on October 12, 2022.
Marybeth began her career as an elementary school teacher before devoting her life to being a homemaker. She found great joy in raising and cherishing her family and took pride in supporting her husband and helping on the farm. Marybeth enjoyed sewing and crocheting, as well as discovering new recipes to share with her family. She took great pleasure in caring for her houseplants, tending their garden, and preserving the harvest through canning.
Surviving Marybeth are her children, Karen Hawk of Champaign, IL, David (Tonya) Hawk of Bushnell, IL, Nathan (Blaine) Hawk of Moorhead, MN, and Leah Hawk of Roseville, IL. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Isabella Hawk of Roseville, IL, Sylis Hawk and Braxten Hawk both of Moorhead, MN. Also surviving is her sister, Jane Buland of LaSalle Peru, IL
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one daughter, Katherine June Hawk; and two brothers, Phillip Buland and Larry Buland.
Graveside Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 2, 2026 at Ellison Township Cemetery, Smithshire, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials can be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice and can be sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
