MaryGrace Orsag Obituary

MaryGrace Macera Orsag, age 83, born on December 3, 1940, a native of Gretna, Louisiana passed away peacefully and was welcomed into God's Heavenly Kingdom of Eternal Life on October 25, 2024. Preceded in death by her late husband of sixty five years, Adolf J. Orsag. MaryGrace was a favored and longtime waitress at the Red Maple Restaurant. She had the pleasure of serving former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards, who sent her a special framed acknowledgment for her excellent service. MaryGrace was enthusiastic about a good quality of life, especially for her daughters. She enjoyed painting ceramics in her spare time, she opened and operated her own ceramic shop, MaryGrace's Ceramics. She became a bridal consultant for Modern Bridal and later managed Satin and Lace Bridal Shop. Realizing how popular silk flower bouquets were becoming, she encouraged her daughter RoseAnn to attend Delgado for floral design, and she and her husband opened their own floral business, Bridal Silks and Wedding Specialist Florist , RoseAnn being the featured designer, given her unique designing skills. Also in their spare time her and her husband worked at her brother, Johnny's race track, Louisiana Speedway 500 in St. Rose. Her and her husband worked in the beer booth. She was a trophy girl and also raced in the Ladies' Powderpuff Derby races. For a short time her and her husband were also co-owners of Redline Ambulance Service. Her business adventures brought her much joy. She and her husband eventually embarked on a slower pace of life, enjoying their family, children, and grandchildren. In her later years, she was given the opportunity for a job, becoming the Senior Citizen Coordinator for the City of Gretna Police Department. Her job was always near and dear to her heart because she had a natural gift for making people feeling happy and special. Being raised an Italian Catholic, she was taught from a young age by her mother to always serve God first. With her faith being instilled in her so young, it grew tremendously, creating a woman of faith and a devout Catholic. In her younger years she cared for sickly family members and also in later years . She created the Sorrowful Mother Rosary Group, and honored the rosary in her home for seventeen years. MaryGrace participated in various ministries. She was elated to have traveled on pilgrimages to Jerusalem, three times to Medjugorje where visionaries claimed that the Virgin Mary was appearing and leaving messages to be shared throughout the world. She visited the Dumps of Mexico with her sister-in-law Sharlene where they assisted the needy by providing supplies, medical and dental care, and ministering to those who resided. MaryGrace formed her own pilgrimages to Sterret, Alabama , there were claims of apparitions of the Virgin Mary. Her daughter's and grandchildren traveled on the pilgrimages. She met and continued a friendship with Mother Angelica who founded EWTN TV station. She manned a prayer line and prayed with people throughout many states, over the phone and visited and prayed with local people. She was a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Anthony Church and Saint Joseph Church in Gretna. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Lucille Orsag Mouille, her daughter RoseAnn Orsag, her cherished first born granddaughter and namesake, MaryGrace Mouille, nicknamed "The Road Runner", Lucia Maria Moore, Melissa M.
