Maryland Cecile Andrus-Dugar, 64, a native and life-long resident of Jennings, LA entered into eternal rest at her residence on Friday, October 17, 2025 with sister Deanna at her side. Maryland was born in Jennings, LA on October 14, 1961 to the late Ola Mae Fontenot-Andrus and Jules Andrus. She was educated in the Jefferson Davis Parish School System and worked 20+ years as a Housekeeper for Jennings American Legion Hospital. Maryland was baptized at an early age by the late Rev. T. C. Alexander and was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Jennings, LA.

Maryland enjoyed working in the yard and was considered by those who knew her as a workaholic; even when her health had began to fail her, she continued to work in her yard against the advice of her family. She also loved Humming Birds & Red Birds. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and she loved to go fishing.

Maryland is survived by her son, Miles M. Dugas of Jennings, LA; her brother, Harvey Crader (Joann) of Moss Bluff, LA; her sister, Deanna C. Simon of Jennings, LA; four grandchildren, Haven M. Dugas, Devann C. Dugas, Anna G. Mauldin, and Ava E. Mauldin; one great-grandchild, Sawyer Lemaire Mauldin; an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Maryland was preceded in death by her mother, Ola Mae Andrus; her father, Jules Andrus; one son, Matthew L. Dugas; three brothers, Billy Crader, Ralph J. Andrus, and Richard Crader; one sister, Tina Andrus; one niece, Leah S. Nichols.

A Memorial Service honoring her life and legacy will be held at a later date, followed by burial in a local cemetery.
