Mason Michael Vaught, 28, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in Oklahoma City, OK. Mason was born May 11, 1996, in Ada, OK. Mason spent his early childhood in Oklahoma City and moved to Moore during elementary school. He excelled in several sports including baseball, basketball, and football. Mason was crowned homecoming king in the fall of 2014. Mason graduated from Moore High School in 2015. After graduation, Mason worked in construction for his grandfather. He spent the last three years working at Tinker Air Force Base.
Mason's first love was always his family. When he was younger, he enjoyed weekends at his grandparents' lake house fishing, tubing, knee boarding, water skiing, grilling, and making smores. His grandfather introduced him to stock car races one weekend in Muskogee and he was hooked. Mason also loved listening to music. He went to his first concert at the age of 14 and never looked back. He attended every concert he could but his most memorable was Rocklahoma with his aunt, uncle, and best friend Mack Couser.
Mason enjoyed spending time with his friends watching sports and going on road trips. In October 2022, he got the privilege to attend a Tampa Bay Buccaneers football game where he witnessed his all-time favorite player, Tom Brady, beat the Atlanta Falcons. He treasured that memory and the Tom Brady jersey he was gifted.
Mason was laid back, easy going, and moved at his own pace. He strived to please those he loved. His daughter, Everly, and son, Dawson, were his entire world. He loved going to Everly's dance recitals and taking Dawson to Thunder basketball games. He was so proud of his kids and wanted to give them all his love, support, and be a part of their everyday life.
Mason is survived by his daughter, Everly Johnston of Blanchard; son, Dawson Vaught of Mustang; mother, Jennifer Mahan of Moore; stepfather, Danny Mahan of OKC; grandmother, Debbie Vaught of Moore; great-grandmother, Mary Durant of OKC: aunts, Wendy & Shauna Vaught of Moore; uncle, Danny July of OKC; and cousins Tyauna & Karter Vaught of Moore. Mason is preceded in death by his brother, Dalton Nichols; grandfather, John Vaught; great-grandmother, Edwina 'Winnie' Ingram; and great-grandfather, Robert Durant.

I am sorry to hear of his passing. I have not seen Mason since one of our Whisenant family reunions. He was fun and very sweet young man. R.I.P now .

The Mason I remember in highschool had a kind, humble, loving spirit. I will always remember you for being a GOOD person. I just saw you not that long ago because you are one of Cory´s closest friends. We celebrated this last 4th of July together at our house and you impressed me with the stuffed jalapeños you made (even though I choked eating one lol), we all went to the Eli young concert in Norman and you didn´t give me a hard time about stealing your chair. For all the times you saved me on Fortnite, and all the times your presence made us feel comforted, I will miss you. My heart breaks for everyone who knew Mason, because to know him was to love him. It hasn´t quite settled with us, but we will carry you in our hearts and remember the times we shared. Watch over your bud Cory, he loves you immensely.
