Mateo Fernandez Obituary
Born September 21, 1957 in Guanajuato, Mexico, he was a son of the late Francisco and Juana Cortez Fernandez.
Mateo married Reyna Muñoz on December 6, 1974. Mateo enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling to Mexico, riding his horses, and eating his wife's tortillas with a good salsa.
Surviving family include his wife of 51 years, Reyna Muñoz de Fernandez and his mother, Juana. Mateo is survived by 9 children, Maria Guadalupe, Francisca, Maricela, Juana Elizabeth, Juan Antonio, Ramiro, Maria Elena, Rosio, and Mateo Jr., 30 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mateo was preceded in death by his father, Fransisco, and a brother, Nicolas.
A funeral service will be 12:00 PM on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, PA. There will be a viewing from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery.
