DROKE, MATILDA L. "TILLIE" Age 81 January 15, 2024. Beloved wife of John. Loving mother of Melissa (Fred) Lawson, Wendy Droke, Paul (Jessica) Droke, Amanda (Stephen) Dumouchelle, John (Carrie) Droke & the late Christopher Droke. Proud grandmother of Fred Ethan, Makenna, Brian (Meghan), Kaitlyn, Brenna, Kate, Kenny, Noah & Sheigh. Great grandmother of Elena, Noah, Isabella, Connor & Christopher. Dearest sister of Harry (Judi) Diamond & Paula (the late Dale) Phillips. Also remembered by many loving nieces and nephews.
Tillie knew that the most important thing in life was family, who she loved and lived for every single day. She mostly cherished and let everyone know about her husband, the love of her life and best friend, John. These two met while working together over 30 years ago and spent every day together since. John and Tillie shared many wonderful years together and she always loved to share her stories of their time together. Whether it was trips to the Great Lakes, an unforgettable road trip out west or as they both would often say "just going and figuring it out along the way", what mattered to her most is they were together.
Although Tillie worked primarily as a bookkeeper throughout her professional career, her true calling and purpose in life was to be an incredible mother and grandmother. She loved all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in her own special way. To this day and forever in life, you will see her love, values and beautiful personality in each and every one of them. No matter what, she just wanted to make sure her family was taken care of.
Tillie's way of making sure family stayed together and came first was she loved to host holidays and cook for the ones she loved most. Everyone loved her famous "lasagna" and you never left hungry no matter what. Of all the family events, Christmas was her favorite of all! This was the time she brought her brother Harry, sister Paula and their families together to a house always incredibly decorated, but most importantly filled with love, laughs and memories that will last a lifetime.
When Tillie wasn't with family, she truly enjoyed spending time going on trips with her "lady friends" playing cards, going on trips, reading and knitting. Born in Detroit, Tillie also stayed true to her roots by cheering on the local teams including her favorite " My Tigers" as she would call them.
This lifelong and true Michigander, Matilda Lee Droke may have passed on, but as she always would've had it, "Tillie", "Mom" and "Grandma" will forever live in the spirit of every single person she ever met.
Visitation Sunday 3-8pm. Funeral Monday 10:00am at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile (SHELBY TOWNSHIP). Donations are welcome to the Disabled American Veterans. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Share memories with the family at their "On Line Guest Book" @ WujekCalcaterra.com
