Matt E. "Bubba" Brunson

Matt (Bubba) E. Brunson, 69, of Pinewood, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, at his home in Pinewood, SC.
Born in Manning, SC, he was a son of Helen B. King-Brookes-Futrell and the late Joseph (Pete) L. Brunson Sr.
Matt attended Bethesda Church of God after he accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at the 2022 Clarendon County Crusade in Summerton, SC under the ministry of the Rev. C.T. Townsend.
He retired from Becton-Dickenson, Sumter, SC with 36 years of service.
Survivors include his wife Michele P. Brunson of 40 years. In addition to her there are 3 surviving children: One Son, Matthew Hunter Brunson (Audrey) Darlington, SC. Daughters: Ashley B Lamb (Jimbo) Pinewood, SC and Skye Mahosky (Taite) Wasilla, Alaska.
He is also survived by his mother: Helen B. King-Brookes-Futrell, and one brother: Joseph (Bo) L. Brunson Jr of Manning SC. Sisters: Sharon (Chinkie) F. Brunson and Margaret Kolb all of Sumter SC.
Grandchildren, whom Pop loved dearly, are Annie-Grace Lamb, Alice & Amelia Brunson, Lawson Schafer, Mazzy, McKenna, & Mila Mahosky.
Matt will be dearly missed by family and friends. His family was his pride and joy. His greatest role outside of being a father was a being a "Pop" to his grandchildren. To his many friends, he was always a person you could count on and didn't hesitate to help anyone in need. His talents were many and his love for the outdoor activities were endless.
Visitation will be held @ 3:00pm on Saturday, April 12 at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home with the Funeral service to follow at 4:00pm in the chapel with the Rev. Bennie Barwick of Cross Roads Bible Fellowship officiating and Rev. H. Albert Sims of Bethesda Church of God.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Glover, Patrick Lester, Carl Broadway, John Geddings, Drew Glover and Carter Glover.
