Mr. Robert Matthew Hughes, age 47, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, January 27, 2025, at Atrium Health Floyd.
Mr. Hughes was born March 7, 1977, in Rome, GA, son of Billy Robert Hughes and Marietta Rutledge Hughes. He had attended Berryton Bible Mission, and prior to his retirement, was a self-employed dump truck driver. Mr. Hughes always had a funny story to tell about himself and his cousins that he enjoyed being around and loved to brag on his "good kids." He also enjoyed playing musical instruments, especially the drums, bass guitar, and lead guitar.
Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lonnie "Granddaddy" and Dicie "Granny" Rutledge; and his paternal grandparents, Jack "PawPaw" and Lula "MawMaw" Hughes.
Survivors include his parents, Billy Robert Hughes and Marietta Rutledge Hughes; a son, Matthew Blaze (Jordan) Hughes; daughter, Kelly Gill; sisters, Billie Hughes, Robin (Timmy) Prince; grandchild, Dixie Marietta Hughes; special friends, Todd and Angie Spears; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
