Matthew P. Allen, 105, of Ellington, CT and Palm Beach, FL died on February 20, 2026 in West Palm Beach, Florida of natural causes. He is survived by his son Steven Allen of West Hartford, CT, adored granddaughter Rebecca Allen of Los Angeles, CA and sister Natalie Mandell of Boca Raton, FL. He was predeceased by his wife Marge Allen, parents Harry and Rebecca Allen and siblings Ruth Vogel, Samuel Allen, Irwin Allen and Gerald Allen. He was an army veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After the war, he operated Allen’s Cleaners, a multi town dry cleaning business. In the 1970’s, he changed careers and became a commercial real estate broker and appraiser. He was professionally active through his 90’s, lastly serving as a Trustee to The Gardner Chapman Trust, with property holdings in Connecticut and Texas. Among his many accomplishments, he was the Exalted Ruler of the Vernon chapter of the Elks, President of the Ellington Ridge Country Club, President of the Greater Vernon Board of Realtors, Realtor of the Year of the Greater Vernon Board of Realtors and Treasurer of the Ambassador South Corporation.
He was a true gentleman, with a smile and good word for everyone.
Burial was private. Contributions may be made to the Rabbi’s Fund at the Beth David Synagogue in West Hartford.
