Matthew Atkinson, age 31 of Cocoa Florida, formerly of Williamstown, NJ passed away suddenly while visiting his home state of New Jersey.
Legacy
Matthew is the treasured son of Mark A Atkinson (Cocoa, Fl ) and Susan E. Parenteau, (Wenonah, NJ). Matt attended both the Williamstown school district and Delsea High School. Matt fought the battle of type 1 diabetes and problems with foot mobility for years. He was more brave than anyone would ever know. He is forever our hero with his courage. His life will live on in others through THE GIFT OF LIFE donor program. His love of all things UFOS/UAPS is shared by his parents who will feel so empty without his daily briefings. He loved following world news and was so smart. Loved and loving Grandson of the late Elmer Hammel, Grandmother Elaine Hammel, of Sewell. Grandson of the late Dorothy and William Atkinson (Mantua, NJ) Stepfather Paul Parenteau of Wenonah, NJ. Loved nephew of Carol Farace of Deptford, NJ, Janet Moritz of New Hampshire, Uncles Bob, Bill, Dave and Jon. Lots of cousins and friends of the family. Everyone who knew loved him and looked to his wit, wisdom and old soul attitude. Grandmom will miss your news updates, honey. You will always be your Mom and Dad's best buddy, Matthew.

DT, Susan has spoken to me many times about you and how wonderful you are in your Christian faith. Thank you for being such a good and supportive friend to her and to Matthew, and God bless you for giving Susan the perfect Bible verse.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of God, family and friends. Please take comfort in the words found at 2nd Thessalonians 2:16,17.

Matthew, I loved you before you were even born and I´ll never stop. I´ll never forget your first Christmas. I think your mom and dad were upset with me because I gave you.as much as, if not more, than Santa did. You were the one who made me an Aunt, my only nephew by blood and I loved you as if you were my own so I couldn´t help myself. I felt so badly for you having casts on your legs and didn´t want you to feel bad so I bought a boy baby doll and I made casts for it´s legs so you wouldn´t feel alone with yours. Life sure was not on your side sweet boy, but you kept pushing forward despite it all. I can´t believe that you´re gone, but I will try to accept it knowing that you will never again feel any pain or suffering. I keep picturing you up in Heaven eating Tootsie Rolls with Grandpa. I will cherish the memories of you and will keep you in my heart forever. I love you Matthew. You will be so sadly missed. Rest in peace and don´t let Grandpa eat too many cookies.

I remember Matthew as always being so thoughtful and loving, with a great sense of humor. He was so happy when Susan found love again and got married to her Paul. I loved him like a son.
