Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society, Raytown MO. Visitation is from 2:00pm – 3:00pm, service follows.
Matthew was born on August 22nd,1987 in Kansas City, MO. Matt was a kind soul who would do anything for anybody. He loved his family, baseball, music, animals, plants and nature. He had an infectious smile with a dimple that you noticed first thing. Matthew was funny and smart.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, George and Patricia Salsig and his paternal grandparents, Richard and Sharon Backhus.
Survivors include: daughter, Rylynne Backhus; mother, Pamela Tapp (Scott Smith); father, Troy Backhus (Shannon Backhus); fiance, Danielle Mackey (step children, Maddie and Rj); sisters, Mendi Backhus (Tyler Beck), Haley Backhus (Antonio Perez), Hannah Backhus-Greenberg (Harrison Greenberg) and Dakota Williams; brothers, Taylor Tapp and Caleb Alberts (Shawna Valentine); niece, Joslynne Mendoza and nephew, Roman Beck; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
