Matthew Backus Obituary
Matthew Darien Backus, age 59, unexpectedly passed away on October 3, 2024. He was born May 2, 1965 in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from Lansdowne Senior High School in 1984. He was the beloved son of the late Charles Gregory Backus, Jr. and the late Florence Ruth Backus (nee Schaffner). Matthew was a newspaper pressman by trade. Matthew was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and crabbing. He also was a mechanic and had a passion for cars. He is the beloved brother of Cynthia Marie Backus, Michael Xavier Harant, Sr., and Timothy Bruce Harant; beloved step-father of Chad Erich and Gail Green (Corey). Matthew is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Halethorpe Community Church, 1312 Francis Ave, Halethorpe, MD 21227 on Saturday, December 7th at 11:00am.
