Matthew (Matt) David Barker of Clifton, Colorado passed away on February 7, 2025 at the age of 39.
Matt was born in Grand Junction, Colorado on December 25, 1985 to Dave and Margo Barker. Matt grew up in Grand Junction where he attended Central High School. Matt spent many years working as the janitor of Hilltop. This inspired him to be a CNA and work in the Traumatic Brain Injury Unit. Matt worked a short time at StarTek where he met the love his life Crystal. After his children were born Matt became a stay at home Dad, which was his true favorite job.
Being the middle child meant Matt spent many years being tormented by his sisters. However, when needed he was the first one to defend them. Matt was the only one allowed to pick on them and get away with it. Matt loved going camping as a child. When his first son was born Matt was excited to share the joys of fishing with him. When his family wasn’t taking up his time, Matt would always be playing video games. His boys learned all their dad’s secrets for playing games and winning.
Matt was preceded in death by his father Dave Barker and his father-in-law Darrel Robison.
Matt is survived by his wife Crystal; his sons Zechariah, Abraham, and Nicodemus; his mother Margo; his sisters Kristine Love (Jeff) and Jessie Rowbotham (Derek), his nieces and nephews Faith, Bellea, Alex, Abie, Hope, Johnathan, Jenny, Julia, and David; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, February 24th at 10:00 AM at Palisade Church of the Nazarene.
