With deep sorrow we announce our beloved Matt Clark has departed this life on May 20th at the age of 48.
Matt was born March 24th, 1976, in Miles City MT, where he grew up in a loving home with 3 brothers and a sister.
Matt was a mischievous spark of energy in the household, causing endless trouble and being cute enough to keep getting away with it.
Matt met his future wife Shauna, and after spending a few years in Miles City living in possibly the smallest house anyone has ever lived in, they moved to Oregon in 1997, where they married in 1998. Shortly after Matt and Shauna settled into the Corvallis area.
Their daughter Jane was born in 2007, and their son Jax was born in 2011. Matt was as proud a dad as you will ever find. His children were his life and he loved them tremendously.
Matt would eventually take over his parent's business, John Boy's Alsea Mercantile, where he quickly became an admired fixture in the Alsea community.
Matt is survived by his family, Shauna, Jane and Jax, his mother Eileen, his brothers Sam(Kana), Wade(Chanya), and Marco(Sarah), his sister Katie(John), and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the loving community of Alsea.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alsea Hope Grange or the Alsea Library.

I've gotten to know Matt over the many years of popping in and out of Alsea Mercantile while visiting family in Alsea. He always took great care of our family and was a genuinely nice guy. One of the last times I saw him he was hiding back in the beer cooler and got me with his squirt gun a few times before I caught on that I was being pranked. It was a good one! We have several great memories that can be directly attributed to his kindness over the years. I am devastated for your loss and the void he will undoubtfully leave behind. Rest in peace, Matt.

There are no words for how much our community will miss Matt. There was never a time he didn't greet us with a smile and a warm hello. We will truly miss you, Matt. I hope you are wrapped up in God's hands.

Matt always had a friendly smile on his face and was often kind to random strangers at Winco, who would happen to get behind him in line when he had 6 huge grocery carts of supplies for his business in Alsea. He would instruct the cashier to add their few items along with his order so they could be on their way. He was a ray of light to all who had the pleasure of seeing him. God bless you Matt. You will definitely be missed.

Matt and his father where both the best of people. What a tragedy to loose Matt. Always so friendly with his low key humor. Matt is a huge loss for our community and will be missed, but always loved and remembered. RIP buddy.
