Matthew Coughlin Obituary

Published by Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Funeral Home on Jun. 8, 2020.
Matthew A. Coughlin, of North Wales, passed away suddenly on Monday June 8, 2020. He was 35 years old. Born November 5, 1984 in Philadelphia, he was the son of Matthew E. Coughlin and Patricia A. Ilovski (nee Piacentino) and the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. Coughlin (nee Shultes). Matt was an alumnus of Hatboro-Horsham High School as well as College of Charleston. He was a real estate agent and a seasoned sales professional, holding management positions at Johnson & Johnson, JG Wentworth, and Barnes and Noble Booksellers. He was a member of National Ski Patrol for Bear Creek for some seasons. Matt's most-loved hobbies included snowboarding, running, kayaking, fishing, Philly sports, basketball, football, listening to music, quoting his favorite movies, telling jokes, meditating and being at the ocean enjoying the sunrise. He particularly enjoyed German Shepherds; three were very meaningful in his life, Schirricca, Luca Brasi, and Bella. South Carolina and Charleston always held a special place in Matt's heart. His favorite food was pasta, and some of his favorite music included Dave Matthews, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Death Cab for Cutie, Radiohead, Johnny Cash, and Frank Sinatra. In addition to his wife Elizabeth, his father Matthew and mother Patricia, Matt is survived by his step-father Zoran M. Ilovski, siblings: Natasia A., Roman M., and Demitri P. Ilovski, and Justin G., Dalton E., and Elizabeth K. Coughlin, his paternal grandfather Edward Coughlin, and many beloved Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Kathryn M. and Peter J. Piacentino, his paternal grandmother Elizabeth "Betty" P. Coughlin, and his aunt Mary E. Ray. Relatives and friends are invited to share in Matt's Life Celebration on Tuesday June 16, from 6 to 8 PM at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 200 West Germantown Pike, 610-277-7000 and again on Wednesday morning from 10 AM to 10:50 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 AM, at St. Catherine of Siena 321Witmer Rd. So sorry for your loss. Matt and I were in the same ski patrol class, so I was able to get to know him very well. He will be greatly missed next season on the slopes. :(

We did not know Matthew but have worked first with "Trish" who helped us several years ago in the office and connected us with Zoran who has been a major contributor to our field work force. There is no way to adequately offer consolation during this time of loss and pain but we want to express our sympathy and support for the family during this difficult time from all of us at Touchstone.

Our hearts are broken and out deepest sympathies are with you. Coggie has touched our hearts in ways that only a family member could. He knew he was forever welcome in our home and when he did visit - he always left us smiling. He was a character - hilarious, creative, smart, energetic and deep on so many levels. Please find comfort in knowing that you and Matt are in our thoughts and prayers.

I didn't know Matt well. He was to start his next journey as a Realtor at Houwzer, where I had the pleasure to meet him during the interview process. I was so excited to have him join our team - his exuberance, creativity and intelligence shone through. Rest in Peace.

I am very sorry to hear of Matt's passing. My deepest condolences for your family. Matt and I were friendly throughout high school. He was a great guy and so talented. Although loss, almost impossible it seems, is one of the hardest things we go through in our lives, we somehow pull through. I hope your family can heal(not forget) quickly. I just lost my younger brother May1st. The day before my birthday. He was also friendly and classmates with Matt. He was there to greet him I'm sure. May he be resting in peace.

My deepest condolences to all Matt has touched through his much too short life adn time with us. It is so difficult to accept the loss of someone we care about and Matt in particular had so much potential and so much left to give. Please hang on to those great memories with him as life goes on and trust that Matt is at peace.
