Obituary of "Matt" Harmon Davis 1977-2025
Matthew "Matt" Harmon Davis, of Durham, born September 4th, 1977, in Vance County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 8th, 2025, in Durham, North Carolina, at the age of 47.
Matt was a dedicated and passionate entrepreneur, who owned and operated his own business, Davis Quality Furniture, where he made a significant impact in the furniture industry. His commitment to craftsmanship and quality was evident in every piece he offered his clients.
From an early age, Matt was a devoted fan of North Carolina State University. He began his higher education journey there, studying engineering, before transferring to the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where he earned a degree in business. His love for North Carolina State never waned, and he remained a proud supporter throughout his life.
Above all, Matt cherished the time he spent with his daughter, Sera Betsy Davis. They shared countless moments together, and their bond was unbreakable.
He was preceded in death by his father, George W. (Bill) Davis, Jr. Matt is survived by his loving mother, Gayle Serls of Durham, his cherished daughter, Sera Betsy Davis, and his siblings, Corbin Shaw, Andrew Davis and Amanda Embry. He also leaves behind his very close friend, Joshua Hurley, who was like family to him.

Matt's warmth, kindness, and genuine spirit touched all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.
To know Matthew was to love Matthew and to be loved by Matthew, you were a lucky one. He was a genuine person who would rather give than receive and that held true his whole life. He was smart, kind, patient, caring and filled with compassion. He has left a mark on so many and we will all move forward with his love in our hearts. May he always be remembered by his bright smile, big blue eyes and huge heart. His legacy of light and love will be carried by his amazing daughter, Sera Davis, his loving mother, Gayle Serls and his grateful siblings Corbin Shaw, Andrew Davis and Amanda Embry. We all love you Matthew Harmon Davis.
