Matthew C. Davison

Matthew C. Davison, age 59, of Penn Yan, NY, passed away on May 4, 2025. Matthew was born on October 8, 1965 in Rochester, NY.
Matthew grew up in Pittsford, NY and graduated from Pittsford Sutherland High School in 1984. He then went on to attend Canton College, where he studied graphic design and played both hockey and lacrosse. He was also a graduate of the American Institute of Taxidermy in Wisconsin, and later owned and operated Fin, Fur & Feather Taxidermy. Moreover, he was a master carpenter, and the owner of Davison Construction, where he took great pride in building custom homes and kitchens for the last 30 years.
In his free time, you could find him in one of three places: In the woods, on the water, or in the kitchen – as he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and cooking. He loved watching his son Rion's youth lacrosse and football teams. He was a member of Milo Lodge #108 F & AM for many years and also was elected and served as the Town Justice for the Town of Jerusalem from 1997-2018.
Matthew is survived by his wife, Sherie; son, Rion; sisters, Peggy Stephens (David) and Molly Davison-Price (David); several nieces and nephews; along with a maternal aunt, a cousin, many friends, and his beloved dog, Whitey. He is predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Margaret Davison; and a brother, Andrew.
Calling hours will be held on June 14, 2025 from 11am-1pm at Townsend-Wood & Zinger Funeral Home, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, NY. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 1pm.
