Matthew Jakob DeGroat

Matthew Jakob DeGroat of Newburgh, N.Y. passed away tragically on October 9, 2025. He was 11.

The son of the late Robert DeGroat Sr. and Kelly Henken, he was born on November 29, 2013 in Newburgh, N.Y.

Matthew was involved with the Middletown Youth Football, St. Mary’s Church and the SNUG Program both in Newburgh, N.Y.

Survivors include his mother, Kelly Henken. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Robert DeGroat ( Wife Tina); Isaiah DeGroat; Michael DeGroat; Alyssa DeGroat; Alyssa Holtje; Jakob Holtje; Julianna Peterson and Dakota Peterson. He is also survived by his grandfather Stewart DeGroat Sr. and his grandparents Glenn and Kimberly Henken as well as his aunts and uncles.

He was predeceased by his brother Anthony Joseph his Grandparents Nancy DeGroat and Elizabeth Ogden and great-grandparents Elizabeth Brown, Cecil M. DeGroat and George A. DeGroat.

Visitation hours will be held on Saturday October 18, 2025 from 10 A.M. -12:30 with a Funeral Service at 12:30 at the Greater Upperroom Apostolic Faith Church 1 Linden Avenue Middletown, N.Y. The Services will be livestreamed at:  https://my.gather.app/remember/matthew-jakob-degroat

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
