Matthew Prairie Drummond, 45, of
Newberg, Oregon, passed away unexpectedly on October 21, 2025. Born on July 12, 1980, in Mountain View, California, Matt was the son of James Robert LeRoy Drummond and Bonnie Prairie Ryan.
Matt graduated from Ventura High School in 1998. In 2001 he moved to Oregon to begin a new chapter of his life. In 2003, he met Mary, and that same year, they welcomed their greatest joy, Matty. After a decade of love and partnership, Matt and Mary were married in 2013, solidifying their eternal bond. That same year, Matt found his perfect fit at Pike Awning Inc. - a place that felt more like family than a workplace.
Matt was truly one of a kind, larger than life, endlessly funny, and unconditionally loving. His quick wit and joyful spirit could light up any room, and he had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcomed and valued. Generous to the core, Matt always put others first and never hesitated to help those in need.
Family was everything to him. The love Matt had for Mary and Matty was deep, unwavering, and truly the love of a lifetime. "Team Drummond" was his greatest pride. He lived with passion, confidence, and no regrets. Whether it was camping, boating, golfing, or creating stunning welding art, Matt gave his all. Stylish and spirited, he brought laughter and energy wherever he went. His playful nature, love of pranks, and candid photography captured the joy of everyday life and the people he held close to his heart.
Intelligent, curious, and humble, Matt lived with quiet generosity, always focused on others rather than himself. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and devotion. He will be greatly missed by many, but his spirit lives on in the joy he gave and the memories he created.
Matt is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Drummond, his cherished son, Matty Drummond, by his mother, Bonnie Ryan, and stepfather, Kevin Ryan. His warmth and kindness touched not only his immediate family but also his in-laws, Richard and Laura Gilleo, and many treasured aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary and Matty are deeply saddened by the loss of Matt and are currently planning a celebration of life, details for which will be placed on this site in the coming weeks.
