Christina Diane McFarling

Christina "Tina" Diane McFarling, 79, of Dundee, Oregon, passed away on September 20, 2025 at Marjorie House Memory Care facility. She was born in Romulus, New York on May 9, 1946, to Lilly and Don Johnson. Growing up, she lived in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho and The Dalles, Oregon before moving to Portland. Tina graduated from The Dalles High School in 1964 and attended Portland State University where she met her husband, Lawrence "Larry" McFarling. They were married on December 27, 1967, until they divorced in 1990. They lived in Aloha, Oregon where they raised their two children, Kathleen and Joel. Tina later moved to Sherwood and then Newberg to be closer to her grandchildren. Tina worked for her husband's printing shop as a bookkeeper and then as a water safety instructor for Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation. Tina loved baking, sewing, and working with kids. She especially loved making homemade bread. Tina spent a lot of time volunteering throughout her life. She volunteered with her church, her children's schools, Campfire Girls, Cub Scouts, Special Olympics, Guide Dogs for the Blind and 4-H. She also gave blood to the Red Cross for many years. Tina is survived by her children, Joel and Kathleen; grandchildren, Bryce, Corinne and Julia; sister, Karin; and nieces and nephews, Doug, Jill, Jennifer, Ben, Andrew, Rebecca, Diana, and Marie. Memorial service will be held Sunday, October 12th at 2pm at Newberg First United Methodist Church with Pastor Casey Banks officiating. Memorial donations in Tina's memory may be directed to Oregon Special Olympics.
