Matthew Dusing

Matthew Thomas Dusing, a beloved member of our community known for his passion for football and his deep empathy for others, passed away on July 1, 2024, at the age of 46. Matt is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Patricia Dusing, He is survived by his sister Heather (Stern) and children Olivia and Ryan.
Matt was born in 1977 in Edgewood KY. Growing up, he enjoyed spending time at the Ice House, family vacations to Hilton Head, golfing with his dad, and traveling to Ocean City with his mom, sister and aunts. He also loved rooting for the Cincinnati Bengals!
Matt discovered his love for football at an early age and pursued it with unwavering dedication throughout his life. His talent on the field was matched only by his sportsmanship and camaraderie with teammates and opponents alike. Matt's presence on the football field brought joy and inspiration to many, including a State Championship in both 1994 and 1995, leaving an indelible mark on the sport at Covington Catholic and those who played alongside him. Matt would later go on to take his talents to the SEC as a walk-on at the University of Kentucky. After graduation, Matt worked in Insurance Sales.
Beyond his athletic achievements, Matt was known for his compassion and concern for others. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life, offering support and understanding without hesitation. His genuine care for those around him earned him the respect and admiration of friends, family, and the community. Matt will be remembered fondly by his many friends and teammates, who will miss his ability to make others laugh, his encouraging words, and his unwavering loyalty.
In celebration of Matt's life, a visitation will be held at Covington Catholic High School on July 8 from 5:00-7:00, with a prayer service following. His family encourages donations in his memory to Covington Catholic Athletic Boosters, honoring his passion for sportsmanship and competition.
