LEXINGTON, Kentucky - Jeremiah Carol Day, 94, husband to the late Anna Chalkas Day, passed away peacefully, March 15, 2026. He was the son of the late Jeremiah Claude and Anna Fightmaster Day, born in Lexington, Kentucky. Jerry was a graduate of Lafayette High School, class of 1949. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1958 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941 and retired as a Lieutenant Commander. Jerry is a Kentucky Admiral.

Jerry was a charter member of Southern Hills United Methodist Church and very active in Missions, Finance, Adult Sunday School and the United Methodist Men. He was a scoutmaster for many years with the Boy Scouts of America. He was honored to serve on the Board for University of Kentucky Wesley Foundation. Upon his retirement as Electrical Engineer in Civil Service, Jerry began a residential electrician business as JC Day Electric. His heart was helping others and he found joy in wiring homes for Habitat For Humanity, so families could gain affordable housing.

Jerry and his wife, Anna, were charter members of and met in Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra. In 2023, CKYSO celebrated its 75th season and Jerry found joy in donating his violin for an up and coming musician.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Anna C. Day, His parents and grandchildren J. Christopher Day, Michael Hager and J. Calvin Day. He is survived by children Jeremiah Day (Marian), Oriental, NC, Virginia Huesman (Timothy), Lexington, Kentucky, and Katherine Hager (Alan), Buckhannon, West Virginia, grandchildren Margaret Stallings (Rusty), Anna Day, Kristen Hager, Brian Huesman, Amie Huesman and Justin Huesman and great grandchildren Cody Suggs, Sarah Suggs, Bentley Hager, Andrew Beavon, Avery Beavon and Jacob Garrett and nephew Charlie Conn.

You are invited to join the family for prayers and stories on Wednesday, March 18th, 2026, 7pm at Milward Funeral Directors on Southland Drive in Lexington. Celebration of his life services will be held Thursday March 19, 2026, 11am at Southern Hills UMC. Interment follows at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorials can be made to CKYSO and Habitat for Humanity.
