Matthew R. Estill, age 47, of Valparaiso, Indiana, peacefully passed away in his home, on Friday, September 12, 2025, in Valparaiso. Born on December 21, 1977, in Merrillville, Indiana, Matt was the beloved son of Jamie and Alice (Addison) Estill. He was a devoted husband, loving father, loyal friend, and an unforgettable soul who touched the lives of so many.
On April 19, 1997, Matt married the love of his life, Jennifer Quinn, in Lake Station, Indiana. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering commitment. For 27 years, their bond served as a shining example of partnership and devotion.
Matt was a proud graduate of Chesterton High School, Class of 1996. He was employed in fleet services at TMS International, where he was respected not only for his work ethic, but also for his warm personality; he truly never met a stranger. Matt's kindness, humor, and genuine nature made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He was a passionate Pop Warner coach who poured his heart into mentoring young athletes, always encouraging and inspiring those around him. Whether it was coaching, working, or helping a neighbor in need, Matt did it with integrity and heart. Matt loved the simple pleasures of life, fishing at his favorite spots, hitting the golf course, and keeping his garage meticulously organized. He was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. A handyman at heart, Matt could fix anything, and he never hesitated to lend a hand to family or friends.
Fearless and fun-loving, he lived life with a spirit of adventure with skiing, skydiving, and making memories on family vacations to places like Tennessee, Hawaii, and beyond. He had a sharp wit and a great sense of humor that kept those around him smiling.
Above all, Matt was a family man. He adored his wife, his children, and looked forward with joy and pride to the upcoming birth of his first granddaughter. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Estill; children, Matthew (Audrey) Estill of Chesterton, Madisen (Zachary Anslem) Estill of Indianapolis, and Melanie Estill of Valparaiso; parents, Jamie and Alice Estill; sister, Carol (Bear) Hodsden; grandparents, Carol Estill and Carol Michaels; mother-in-law, Susan Quinn; sisters-in-law, Kelly Coulopoulos and Kristin (Joe) Quinn; brother-in-law, Bobby (Meghan) Quinn. He also leaves behind many cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Roy Estill, and his father-in-law, Robert James Quinn, Sr.
Matt's legacy is one of love, strength, loyalty, and laughter. He gave so much to this world and asked for little in return. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A memorial service to honor Matt's life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304, with Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
