Matthew Fox, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Apollo Beach, Florida, on April 10, 2025. He was 76 years old.
Born and raised in Newton, Massachusetts, Matt was the cherished son of Elsa (Cohen) and Harold Fox. He attended Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge and graduated from Hebron Academy in Maine. He went on to study at American University in Washington, D.C., where he earned a degree in Economics in 1971 and continued his studies toward a master's degree in the same field.
Matt's professional life was centered around the construction industry, where he made a lasting mark. He began his career with William Berry Homes, later founded his own company - Fox Construction - and ultimately spent the remainder of his career with Kettler Forlines Homes.
In retirement, Matt and his longtime partner, Sheila McKendree, his loving companion of 33 years, relocated to Apollo Beach, Florida, where they built a life filled with sun, sea, and community. Matt found joy in the simple pleasures-sharing laughs and stories at the Tiki Bar in Little Harbor, cruising the open seas, and relaxing with his beloved cats.
He is survived by his daughter; Heather (Fox) Epstein, her husband Michael, and their daughters, Jordyn and Hailey Epstein, who brought him endless pride and happiness. He also leaves behind his stepchildren; Tina McKendree and Robert McKendree.
Matt will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 12:30 pm at the Garden of Remembrance, Clarksburg, Maryland. Immediately following the service, the family will receive guests at the Reception Hall at the Garden of Remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Matt's memory may be made to: Humane Society of Tampa Bay Boys and Girls Clubs of America
