It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Matthew Raye Gibbs, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully on September 14th 2025 at the age of 45.

Matthew, was a man whose kindness, warmth, and presence touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He was a source of love, joy and strength for his family, and offering a helping hand whenever it was needed.

Born on August,7th 1980 in Gadsden Alabama, Matthew, found joy in the simple things-spending time outdoors, cheering on his favorite football team, sharing meals with loved ones, telling stories, and making those around him feel cared for and appreciated. Matthew never met a stranger and had friends from all walks of life. To know him was to be loved by him, with a hug around your neck and a joke to be shared.

He is survived by his loving wife Luanne Gibbs, children Chloe (Matthew) Pinkston, Garrett (Jennifer) Gibbs, Lanie Gibbs and Taylor Collett, his most precious grandchild Nathan Pinkston. Parents Mitchell and Deborah Gibbs and siblings Jennifer (Jay) Etheridge, Elizabeth Gibbs and Martha (Daniel) Nance. And many Nieces and Nephews that he loved fiercely. Close friends Daniel Hubbard, Jackie Grochola and Allan Smith.

The family will continue to honor his memory by carrying forward the love and the unique humor that was Matthew.

He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Cecil (Willie) Gibbs, and Ramona Hawkins.

Though his absence leaves a great void, Matthew's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. His legacy is one of unconditional love, humor, and strength of a life well lived.

A celebration of Matthew's life will be held on Saturday, September 20th 2025 at Millers Hollow Community Church at 11 AM with lunch to follow. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Millers Hollow Community Church.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jo Horton, Amanda Roxanne, Hayley and Lee Spears, and Baldwin County Fire and Rescue for their care, support, and kindness.
