Matthew Clayton Gibson

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Matthew Clayton Gibson, who departed this life on August 24, 2025, at the age of 51.

Born on July 10, 1974, in Nashville, Tennessee, Matt was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished son. His presence brought warmth, humor, and strength to everyone who knew him. He lived a life marked by integrity, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to his family. Matt was a dedicated member of the Lebanon Road Church of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee where he served as a deacon.

Matt leaves behind his beloved wife, Laura Gibson, and their three children-Clayton, Maggie, and Jack Gibson-who were the pride and joy of his life. He also leaves behind his loving parents, James "Skipper" Gibson and Willa "Dean" Gibson.

In addition, Matt is survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Carol Hunt; his sister-in-law, Casey Heard (Brett); and his brother-in-law, Andy Hunt (Rena). He was a proud uncle to Harper and Anders Hunt, both of whom brought him great joy.

Those who knew Matt will remember his steady spirit, his generosity, and the quiet way he showed up for others when it mattered most. He had a talent for making people feel seen and valued, and his loss leaves a void that cannot be filled.

Visitation will be held at Lebanon Road Church of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. and Friday August 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. A celebration of Matt's life will be held at Lebanon Road Church of Christ on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., where friends and loved ones will gather to honor his memory and the legacy of love and devotion he leaves behind. Burial service will follow at Christ Church Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Andy Hunt, Brett Heard, Juan Ovalle, Brian Rooley, Jeff McGee, Emory Buckner, Gavin Hammers and BJ Morris.

Though he is no longer with us, Matt's love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
