Matthew R. Goss, of Mondovi, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at his home, surrounded by the love and support of his best friend, soulmate, and the love of his life, Julie. He was born on March 19, 1970, to Ralph Goss and Shirley Thoma in Eau Claire, WI.
Matthew had a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing and spending peaceful moments by the water’s edge with Julie. His passion for nature was only rivaled by his love for his family.
Matthew was a dedicated employee at Bees Forest Products in Nelson, WI, where he worked for 22 years. He was a man of honor and commitment, both at work and within his family, showing a steady devotion to those he loved. He believed in accepting others as they were and never judged them for their differences.
Matthew will be forever missed by his best friend and soulmate, Julie; his children, his precious late son, Matthew Goss, Daniel Goss, Elizabeth Goss, Steven (Ashly) Shimek, and Tessa (Matthew) Fedie; his 10 beloved grandchildren; his mother, Shirley Thoma; his stepmother, Sherry Goss; siblings, Mike (Diane) Goss, Kathy (Bob) Woodcock, and Patty (Matt) Guden; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Goss, and his infant son, Matthew.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi, with Pastor Mara Ahles-Iverson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Mondovi. A memorial gathering will be held at the church from 3:00 PM until the service begins.
