Matthew “Lynn” Guthrie, 57, of Beaufort, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Friday, December 12, 2025.
A memorial service to honor Lynn’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, December 29 at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Paul Loftin. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Lynn was born on January 11, 1968, in Morehead City, NC, to Phillip Guthrie and the late Ellen Guthrie. A faithful member of Crystal Coast Worship Center, Lynn found joy in serving the Lord and sharing his love of music as a devoted member of the church choir. His faith and gentle spirit were ever present.
For many years, Lynn worked faithfully at Willis Seafood Market, where he was known for his hard work, friendly smile, and dedication to both his customers and coworkers. Outside of work and church, Lynn loved to travel. He loved his trips to Myrtle Beach and annual trips to the mountains. Relaxation was at the top of the list when he was away. May Lynn be remembered for his kindness and infectious personality.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his father, Phil Guthrie of Beaufort, NC; sister, Louise Guthrie of Hubert, NC; special cousin, Sue Frost of Salter Path, NC; nephews, Alex Guthrie, CJ Guthrie; great niece, Brianne; and great nephews, Landon, Bryson, and Colton.
Lynn was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Guthrie; brother, Tom Guthrie; and niece, Amber Guthrie.
