Matthew F. Kozak age 63, of Clinton, NY, formerly of Yorkville, NY passed away on Saturday June 3, 2023, with his devoted family and friends by his side.
He was born in New Hartford, NY on April 1, 1960, a son of the late John and Stephanie Wolkonowski Kozak and was a 1978 graduate of NY Mills High School. On May 2, 1998, he was married to Maria R. LaPaglia in Mt. Carmel Church, a blessed union of 25 years.
Matt was employed with the NYS Dept. of Corrections @ Midstate Corrections in Marcy, NY attaining the rank of Sergeant until his retirement in 2019.
Surviving are his beloved wife Maria; his loving grandmother Antoinette LaPaglia; one sister and brother-in-law Jane and Larry Salerno of Il.; two brothers and sisters-in-law Jim and Margaret Kozak of Oriskany and Steve and Cyndi Kozak of NC; his in-laws Anthony and Kelly LaPaglia of Utica and Janine and Phil Vivenzo of Syracuse; his aunts and uncle Maryann Smith and Joe and Irene Kozak all of Utica; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Annette LaPaglia.
Visiting hours will be Friday June 9th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. Utica. His Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will be Saturday June 10th at 12:00 Noon in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church. Private entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Matthew may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital @ stjude.org or Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church. Envelopes will also be available at the services.
Maria would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to all of her wonderful friends for all the love and support given to Matt and herself during these difficult times.
