Marsich, Matthew Michael, Age 51, passed peacefully from this world on February 27, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia following a yearlong battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Those desiring may make memorial contributions in Matthew's memory to the University of California San Diego – Moores Cancer Center. Matthew was born in Flint, Michigan on June 16, 1972. He was the son of Jerry "Rick" and Jennifer (McCallister) Marsich. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan and Ohio State University with a degree in Optometry. Matthew was a leader within the Visionworks organization, where his dedication to patient care and pioneering approach to incorporating technology into his practices set a standard of excellence that inspired many. Matthew was a wealth of knowledge; he loved learning and knew something about everything. He had a great sense of humor, was fun-loving. Matthew had a good heart and was always looking out for others. Surviving are parents Jerry and Jennifer Marsich; sisters Veronica and Andrea; aunts, Cheryl Mince, Frankie (and Patrick) Ryan, Sharon Titus, Janice Ellithorpe; friend and roommate Damon Knox; cousins, along with numerous other friends and co-workers. He was preceded in death by uncles, Mark Titus, and Dennis Mince. Special thanks to the many friends that have helped in so many ways over the past year, as well as to the staff at UC San Diego Health and Emory Cancer Institute for their kindness and exceptional care.

The first time I met Matt he had sprained both his ankles doing gymnastics at Michigan. I thought he was going to be a real pain in the you know what! After helping him with yet another injury to his knee, we became very close and stayed in touch for a long time. Not long enough as I just learned of his illness and passing and I am so saddened by the news. Matt was such a presence. He was kind, smart, and so much fun to be around. He clearly touched many in his short time on earth and will be sorely missed by many. I will never forget Matt. Rest in peace, my friend. Love you, Lisa Hass

Matt visited us in Palm Springs last year. He still had the boyish face we remembered from DC days. Our sympathy to his Mother, Father and Sister. Gary Lindensmith and Michael Alcenius.
