Matthew David Martin

Matthew David Martin, 32, of Zimmerman, MN, passed away on August 1, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born September 9, 1992, Matt graduated from Elk River High School in 2010 and was passionate about music, playing the drums, classic movies, cheering on the Packers, fishing, and spending time outdoors with family, friends, and his dogs. He worked at Deano's Collision in Elk River and was known for his outgoing nature, great smile, and ability to connect with others.

Matt had a love for the outdoors, especially enjoying countless hours fishing and exploring nature with those closest to him. It was during these outdoor adventures, pursuing the activities he cherished most, that Matt contracted West Nile disease. Despite his strength and optimism, complications from the illness ultimately led to his passing.

He was preceded in death by his dog Lexi, mother Peggy Aadalen-Martin, and grandparents Chauncey & Marilyn Martin and Dean & Mary Aadalen. Matt is survived by his parents Dave and Jody Martin, sister Andrea (Ross) Wangensteen, brother Brandon Rischmiller, and extended family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, August 7, 2025, 5:00–8:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dare's Funeral Home, 805 Main St NW, Elk River, MN.

Memorials may be made to a local animal shelter or another charity of your choice. Additionally, donations to help support the prevention and treatment of West Nile are welcomed through the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI).
