Gray Memorial Funeral Home - CranfordMatthew Scaturo passed away on October 8, 2025 after a heroic battle with cancer. Matt is survived by his wife of 28 years, Cori, their two children: son Jared and his fiancée Lindsey Wolfe, daughter Emily, his parents Patricia and Michael Scaturo, his sister Michele Serido and husband Paul Nilsen, his brother Michael Scaturo, and nine nieces and nephews.
Matthew grew up in Cranford, New Jersey, where he attended Kean College and the Chubb Institute, and spent his time with friends and family. Matt and his wife moved to Byram, New Jersey, where they stayed for 23 years, raising their two children and two loving dogs. Matt worked in IT for 30 years during this time as well. Recently, he and his wife returned to Cranford.
Matthew was talented in many areas, such as writing, cooking, and renovating the house. He loved to spend his time watching movies and shows with friends, and never passed up a good glass of scotch. Matt was also known for his sharp sense of humor, able to make anyone laugh when they least expected it.
Nothing was more important to Matt than being with family, spending many summers on vacations in the Outer Banks and Wildwood. He always made time to make Halloween costumes, Lego spaceships, or pancakes on Saturday mornings.
Matt holds a special place in our hearts as the best husband, father, brother, and son, and will be deeply missed by all.
A Life Celebration Gathering will be on Friday from 9am to 1 pm October 24, 2025 at the Gray Memorial Funeral Home, Cranford.
