Matthew McLain Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Malloy & Son Funeral Home - Galveston on Jul. 17, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Matthew Scott McLain, age 32, born on June 6, 1993, in Mesquite, Texas. Passed away on July 17, 2025 at home with family in Galveston, Texas.

Matthew is deeply loved and will be forever missed. He is survived by his parents, Marcie and Michael McLain, and his three younger brothers, Taylor, Garrett, and Tanner McLain. He is lovingly remembered by his grandfather Darrell McClung and wife Holly, grandmother Melody Cross, and grandfather Fred Cross. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Marsha McClung, who has welcomed him into eternal peace.

Matthew had an adventurous and unique spirit with a vibrant personality. From a young age, he showed a passion for reading, music, and art. He was bright, well-mannered, and a wonderful big brother who loved spending time outdoors with his brothers-riding bikes, skateboarding, playing sports, and exploring nature. Family trips to Galveston were among his favorite memories, where he delighted in the sand, surf, and discovering the beauty of the world around him.

Matthew loved deeply but quietly. His beautiful brown eyes were full of stories, his sense of humor brought joy to those around him, and his contagious smile could light up a room. As he grew older, his love for nature and outdoor adventures never faded.

He was compassionate and had a generous heart, always willing to give and help others, even when he had little himself. Giving was truly his love language. Though Matthew's adult life was marked by hardship and illness, he faced adversity with quiet strength and never stopped showing love, affection, and gratitude to his family.

Matthew's faith was a source of peace for him. He knew God and spoke with Him daily. Though his life was cut short, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Scripture Readings

John 14:27

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

2 Timothy 4:7

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

Psalm 34:18

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

Revelation 21:4

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

Matthew 5:4

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."

In the Bible the number 1 represents God and the number 7 reflects God's promise of completion and eternal peace. It is no coincidence that Matthew left this world on July 17 at 7:17 a.m. Though his earthly journey was cut short, his spirit is now whole and perfected in God's loving presence.
