Matthew Daniel Moore (Matt) passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Matt was born July 19, 1983, in Euless, TX. He was the second son of Mike and Melody Moore, and grew up in Hurst, TX. As a boy he loved playing with neighborhood friends and following around after his older brother Michael. His naturally competitive nature helped him excel at sports, and he enjoyed playing baseball, soccer and football. The Moore family enjoyed traveling together, going on frequent camping trips, ski trips, beach trips and a memorable trip to Universal Studios in Florida.
Matt had to grow up sooner than others when, at the age of 16, he was blessed with the birth of his daughter, Abigail in June 2000. Matt worked hard to provide for his young family, finishing his high school education at KEYS High School in Euless, TX and working as a pharmacy tech. It was while working at Walgreens in Keller, TX that he was recruited to the Keller Police Department. He graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy at the Northwest campus of Tarrant County College in 2006 and began working for the Keller PD.
As a Keller police officer since 2006 Matt received numerous awards, certifications and made an impact in the city of Keller that will be instrumental for years to come. Matt graduated the academy in March of 2006, became a detective in February of 2012, and was promoted to corporal in 2017. After being promoted to corporal Matt went back to patrol in where he served the community since 2017. Matt achieved the master peace officer certification in 2021, he also received the lifesaving award and was honored to be the supervisor of the year in 2023. Matt was instrumental in starting the Drone unit and the was the assistant team lead and a certified FAA drone pilot. Matt was an incredibly gifted officer in many ways and the last few years he contributed to Keller and other local departments by using his IT skills to make improvements to key systems. Matt served his community well and he will be missed by his fellow officers and the community that he had built in his 19 years of service.
Matt is survived by his wife Amanda and son Matthew Daniel Moore, Jr. of Hurst, TX, daughter Abigail Moore of Haslet, TX; parents Mike and Melody Moore of Hurst, TX; father-in-law Bob Mazur of Cleveland, OH; mother-in-law Ann Mazur of Akron, OH; brother Michael Moore and wife Stephanie, nephew Henry and niece Clara of Trophy Club, TX; and grandparents John and Peggy Moore of Hurst, Texas. Matt was part of a large and loving extended family and is survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by grandparents Jim and Martha Creecy.
A memorial service will be held for Matt on January 24, 2025, at First United Methodist Church of Hurst. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a GoFundMe to provide support to Matt's wife and children.

Matt; we knew each other for the past 18 years and were both dedicated city of Keller employees. Your kindness to me during that timeframe will not be forgotten. May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you and your family. You will be greatly missed. Dann Weesner
