Matthew A Navas, 25, of Columbus, GA passed away September 26, 2025.

A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM on Saturday, October 4, 2025, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory 1507 Main St. E, Valdese, NC 28690.

Matthew was born January 11, 2000 in Ft. Riley, Kansas. He was the son of Scott and Michelle Thompson & Joe and Joann Navas. He was preceded in death by his Maternal grandfather, Danny Hart and nephew Michael Alex Hart.

Survivors include his maternal grandmother, Linda Hart, an uncle, Michael (Gina) Hart. Also an uncle Mark (Susan) Thompson, Cousins Jessica and Josh Thompson. He is also survived by his beloved girlfriend, Makayla Medena.

Matthew graduated from Northside High School and Columbus Technical College. He was employed at Auto Nation Volkswagen, where he built a relationship with his many customers, because they trusted him.

Matthew loved his family. When he met Makayla, he told her he wanted someone like his mother. He loved his Mom so much as she meant the world to him. He didn't just tell her but showed his love and appreciation for her. His father Scott spent so much time with him, teaching him construction, building decks, sheds, fish tanks and engines, mechanics, grilling or hours spent throwing the ball to him as a child. He has mentored him in life, friendship, dependability and as Matthew always knew, Scott had his best interest at heart and would always be there at a moments notice. He knew he was so loved and taken care of and was a priority in his parents lives.

Matthew will be remembered for being a compassionate young man. He was caring, giving, kind and thoughtful. When he saw a need, he acted on it. He never met a stranger. Matthew was known of being a jokester.

It is with heavy hearts and profound deep sorrow that the family of Matthew Acevedo Navas share on September 26, 2025, Matthew unexpectedly went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 25. Matthew was born at Fort Riley in Kansas on January 11, 2000 to Michelle Hart and Joseph Acevedo Navas. Matthew a lifelong resident of Columbus, Georgia. Matthew graduated Class of 2018 from Northside High School, Columbus, Georgia and attended Columbus Technical College. He was a Service Advisor at Auto Nation Volkswagen.

Matthew is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Luz-Elena Acevedo and Joseph T. Navas; beloved maternal grandfather "papaw" Daniel Hart, cousin Micheal A. Hart; and stepbrother Nicholas Forte'. Matthew is survived by his loving devoted mother Michelle Hart-Thompson and his supportive loving bonus father Scott Thompson of Columbus, Georgia; his beloved nurturing dad Joseph A. Navas and bonus mother JoAnne Navas of Palm Coast, Florida; his step brother Kevin Forte' and wife Maritza of Palm Coast; step sister Niki Thompson of Georgia, maternal grandmother "mimi" Linda Shook-Hart of Hickory, N.C.; paternal step grandmother Traci Stewart of Newport News, V.A. along with 3 neices 4 nephews, numerous cousins aunts and uncles.
