Funeral services for Matthew Patton, 49, of Lufkin, will be held Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Trey Ainsworth officiating. Interment will be at Garden of Memories.
Mr. Patton was born on March 1, 1976, in Lufkin, TX, to Mabry Ace Patton and Linda Darlene (Hayes) Patton, and died Friday, March 14, 2025, in Houston.
Matthew thoroughly enjoyed fishing, he also enjoyed drawing and could create some beautiful artwork. He loved to play video games and was highly competitive, as well as enjoying music. He enjoyed working and tinkering on cars and was a huge NASCAR fan, you could always find him in front of the TV on race day. Matthew truly loved his daughter, and they would often take off to the movies together, especially if they could find the latest Star Wars movie. They could also often be found at the Naranjo Museum perusing the exhibits.
He is survived by his daughter, Kirsten Patton of Pollok, TX; mother and father, Linda and Ace Patton of Lufkin, TX; sister, Sheri Cotten of Lufkin, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Shelley and Dooley Powell of Huntington, TX; nephew and wife, Jace and Sky Powell of Lufkin, TX; nephew and wife, Seth and Peyton Cotten of Lufkin, TX; niece and husband, Kayla and Michael Bronn of Albuquerque, NM; niece and husband, Haley Cotten and Andy Weaver of Houston, TX; niece and husband, Ashley and Ryan Mitchell of Lufkin, TX; great-nieces and nephews, Bella, Kara, Gunner, Ava, Jaxson, Kenley, Cole, Logan, Ryleigh, Aspyn, Kenndie, Kinsley, Alex, and Jack.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brendan Patton; grandparents, John and Jessie Hayes, and Albert and Vergie Patton; brother-in-law, Brack Cotten; and nephew, Finn Cotten.
Pallbearers will be Robert Toll, Trevor Toll, Brandon Reynolds, and Kenneth Chandler.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jace Powell, Seth Cotten, and Dooley Powell.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Shafer Funeral Home.
