Matthew Cory Rush, 47, resident of Lewisburg, died Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at his residence.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Mooresville Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Rush officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 12:00 PM until the time of service at Mooresville Baptist Church and on Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 2:00 PM till 3:00 PM at Bashan Baptist Church, in Thomasville, Alabama. A graveside service will be conducted on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Bashan Cemetery. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com

Born September 6, 1977 in the St. Tammany Parish of Covington, Louisiana, he was the son of Rev. Bob Rush and Margaret Baugh Rush. He was a graduate of Garrard County High School in Lancaster Kentucky and received his Bachelor Degree from The University of Mobile in Alabama. During his academic career, Matthew excelled in various sports, especially in tennis and golf. He spent his career working in various public and private restaurants, working his way from line cook to holding the position of Head Chef. On June 21, 1985, Matthew accepted Christ at Spring Bank Baptist Church, in Silas, Alabama. Matthew was a member of Mooresville Baptist Church in Lewisburg. 

In addition to his parents, Matthew is survived by sisters, Samantha Rush (Robert) Peek, and Paula Rush (Paul) Robinson; niece, Molly Parker Robinson; nephews, Carson (Katie L.) Reddick, Cameron (Shelby R.) Reddick, Rush Robinson; his honorary brothers of House 12, and extended family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leroy and Bertha Rush; and maternal grandparents, Emmitt and MarvieLene Baugh.

Pallbearers will include family and his friends from House 12.
