Steven James Heier, 75, resident of Columbia, died January 31, 2026 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A funeral mass will be conducted Friday, February 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Catherine Catholic Church with Rev. Regimon Augustine officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Born January 28, 1951 in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of the late James Heier and the late Helen Chrisman Heier. Steven attended Youngtown State University, where he played football and received his Bachelor's Degree in Marketing. On January 17, 1976 he married the love of his life, Barbara Hopkins. Steven was a retired planning manager for Frito-Lay, where he had worked for thirty plus years. He enjoyed golf and football, and was an avid Tennessee Titans fan. Steven was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, Barbara Hopkins Heier, he is survived by daughters, Kristen Mach (Eric) Rempfer, and Beth Heier (Chris Liddicoat); son, Jonathan (Amanda) Heier; grandchildren, Olivia Mach, Lucy Mach, Rosie Rempfer, Cole Tribble, and Kelsey Tribble; nieces, Danielle Hopkins, Kristy Mattson, and Bobbi Jo Mattson; and his beloved dogs, Paisley, Barnaby, and Daisy.
He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew "Chew" Heier; aunt, Mary "Mevy" Evelyn Hopkins; and brother-in-law and close friend, Robert "Bo" Hopkins.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Baker, Michael Baker, James Sloan, Chris Liddicoat, and Eric Rempfer.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to Valorie Gant, Tracey Cozey, Maury Regional Hospice, and Dr. Ben Gardner for all of their love and care.
