Matthew Ruvalcaba Obituary
Matthew Alexander Ruvalcaba, beloved son, brother, and grandson, entered the kingdom of heaven on February 27, 2023. Matthew was well-known for his sense of humor, love for animals, and deeply empathetic nature. He was also very musically gifted and aspired to impact others through his love of music. His disarming vulnerability left all he encountered feel safe, loved, and cared for. Matthew is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Jose Ruvalcaba, maternal grandmother Bertha Valdez, and aunt Lourdes Espinoza. He is survived by his parents Yolanda Ruvalcaba, Antonio Ruvalcaba Sr. and partner Sulena Savage, brother Antonio Ruvalcaba Jr. and wife Kristina, paternal grandmother Alicia Ruvalcaba, maternal grandfather Sabino Valdez Sr., godparents Roy and Elizabeth Hoats, and countless aunts, uncles, and cousins that will miss him tremendously. We take solace in knowing our beautiful Matthew is now free and reunited in heaven with his best four-legged friend Boots. Visitation will be held March 7, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home-Americas, 9521 North Loop Dr., El Paso, Texas 79907, with rosary prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held March 8, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at Mesa Place Church, 985 Loma Verde Dr., El Paso, Texas, 79936. Internment will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Evergreen East Cemetery, 12400 Montana Ave., El Paso, Texas, 79938.

Matthew, it has been more than 3 months since you went to heaven and there is not a day that goes by that I do not think of you. I find myself texting you still to this day and the other day, I went to pick up dinner for you! I still can't believe you're gone. I'm grateful for all the memories and special moments we shared together. I miss listening to music with you while cruising in the car, going out to eat, your silly laugh, and your great hugs! These memories will forever be imprinted in my heart!
Every person you met had a story about how funny, witty, intelligent, and loyal you were! You had an amazing gift of making people feel comfortable and loved. You gave love so freely and openly to so many willing to be your friend....and you loved unconditionally!
There were so many things I wanted to say at your service, but I was still trying to figure out what happened to you. I wanted so much to tell everyone what type of person you were; you were someone with a great smile and a big heart, someone who had the capacity to love greater than anyone else I know. I don't know if you were aware of just how many lives you forever changed, there are so many! You left your mark on this earth that is for sure!
Our physical time with you is done, but never forgotten. Son, place those hands that I held for 23 years, one on your brother, who loves you so very much, and one in God's hand. Guide all of us along this journey until we can see you again. I thank God for giving me the privilege of choosing me to be your mom.

After the first day I met Matt we became so close. He had such a welcoming and loving energy that made you feel warm. It was truly an honor being your friend and an even greater one that you were mine. Man.... Life just happens unexpectedly.
Not too long ago we were chatting about self-improvement and grinding out. We go way back.... I remember when we used to skate together, then eventually developed a love for music and just hung out for fun. From there we started getting closer and began to develop Ghost & Cloud. I remember the first time I saw Matthew. He was really quiet and wouldn't really talk to anyone. A group of our friends sat close by him and we would always ask him questions to include him in the group. Before we knew it he was sharing his stories and sharing his laughs with all of us. Telling us how much he loved music and even sharing some of the things he had created. We became really close real quick. He had a way of making you feel appreciated. When we got our work schedules changed I hardly got to see him, yet we always kept in touch, always checking up on each other. It's broke my heart to hear that he was gone. I will miss you sooo much. I´ve known Matthew since he was in elementary and bestfriends with my brother, Peter. My heart is broken to hear he´s in heaven way too soon. matthew, words cannot express how much ill miss you. in the time i had with you, we became so close. it always felt like we knew eachother for lifetimes before this one. you had such a huge impact on me and my life. you made me feel so seen and taught me so so much. you were one of the closest people i´ve ever had in my life, you always will be. i wish we had taken pictures to capture some of our moments together but i am grateful that we were able to spend that time so present with one another that we´d forget about our phones. i´ll love you til the end of time, even after. thank you for allowing me the privilege of experiencing you, your friendship, and your love. ill cherish all of our laughs and long talks; your memory in general, forever. i cant wait til we meet again.

My bestfriend, my brother. Matthew is and always will be apart of me, the person I am today, the humor, the music everything is the result of our friendship. From skating all day to building forts in my backyard there was no greater friend a person can have. I will carry him with me forever and there is no greater gift than that. For him, his loving parents who were my second home for so many years I am eternally grateful. I love you and I know you love me too man.
