Matthew Sellers returned to his heavenly home on February 12, 2025. He was a devoted Husband, Dad, and Grandpa.
Matt was born on April 4, 1966, to Keith and Louise Sellers in Ogden, Utah. He spent his childhood in Rexburg where he was able to enjoy running around town with his siblings, Brett, Bart, Karie, Mark and Jamie. He also spent a lot of time with cousins and friends. Rexburg is where lifelong friendships were made early in Matt's life.
As a young man Matt developed a love for the Savior Jesus Christ when he chose to serve a full time mission. He was called to serve in the Leeds, England Mission. He served faithfully and loved everything about England, including the people, culture, and even the cold rain. England is where Matt's relationship with the Savior and Heavenly Father grew the most, and his testimony of serving others was solidified as one of the most important things in his life.
After returning home from England Matt found the love of his life, in Becky Daniel. He was the proudest and most loving husband, who continued to flirt with and tease Becky through their whole marriage. He treasured her as the most precious gift he was given and tried to never let her forget it. Matt became the best father the world has ever seen and he defined the term "girl dad" with his actions. When Alexis, Jordan, Cassidy, and Matilyn joined the family Matt made sure they were lifted up in every conversation he had with them. He showered them with praise, care, love, and affection. He was so proud of them, their husbands, and his treasured grandkids. Life was always about his daughters, wife, and family. If you ever had a conversation with Matt you knew there was no doubt that the love he felt for his family exceeded anything that could be measured here on earth.
Through his life Matt had many occupations including elementary teacher and school principal, but found his gift as a teacher. He was a master teacher, and had a gift to move and inspire his students; both professionally and spiritually, as he helped many learn of the Savior. Matt also served in many church callings and assignments, his favorite being Primary teacher, where he was able to lift others and help them feel loved. He always knew the right things to say to help others, and his children knew where they could go for counsel and advice as they continually learned from him.
Matt was a food enthusiast. Every trip with Becky was about the food! He would spend countless hours dreaming and researching the food he wanted to try or cook. He also had a passion for golf. He spent his entire life golfing and had amazing natural ability. He enjoyed developing this talent as he golfed solo, with his coworkers, and with his sons.
Matt gave all his energy and gifts to others, never giving up on anyone, or anything.
Matt is survived by his wife, Becky Sellers of Rexburg, his children; Alexis (Bart) Heyn of Iowa, Jordan (Darren) Cherrington of Rexburg, Cassidy (Spencer) Chun, of Taiwan, Matilyn (Connor) Simpson of Rexburg. Grandkids; Camry, Adilynn, Oliver, Eliza, Jace, Jack, Mark, Ella Rose, Elias, Israel, Caius, and Wesley; his father, Keith LaMar Sellers; brothers, Brett (Jan) Sellers, Bart (Lori) Sellers; sisters, Karie (Casey) McGarvey and Jamie (Aaron) Sellers.
He is preceded in death by his mother Elva Louise Last Sellers; and brother Mark Andrew Sellers.
